Dr. Greta Bauer is a Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University. Her primary research interests are in social marginalization and health. As a CIHR Sex and Gender Science Chair, she aims to improve quantitative research methods in incorporating sex and gender multidimensionality and intersectionality into research methods.
February 9, 2022–Dr. Greta Bauer joins us for the second seminar in the 2022 WISDOM EDI Series. In this thought-provoking seminar, Dr. Bauer describes core concepts in intersectionality and introduces a tool chest researchers can use in relevant and meaningful quantitative research that incorporates these concepts. The multidimensionality of intersectional identities, contrasting descriptive and analytic quantitative research in this arena, and commonly conflated concepts are dissected to promote the pragmatic categorization of data.
